This one-hour impactful presentation introduces high school students to the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit People (MMIWG2S). Vanessa Brousseau shares her personal connections, historical context, and paths to action. Students will explore the root causes of violence and learn how to be allies in creating safer, more supportive communities for Indigenous peoples.
This two-hour presentation where through personal family history—from her grandfather’s time in a sanatorium, her mother’s experience in Indian Day School, to her sister’s disappearance—Vanessa shares how intergenerational trauma impacts Inuit communities today.
Educators and participants will also learn about E-numbers, Inuit naming traditions, and family trees, gaining valuable insight into Inuit history, resilience, and the ongoing call for justice and healing.
Vanessa shares the powerful true story of her and her sister Pamela—growing up in a cycle of abuse, poverty, and racism, and how those realities led to Pamela’s disappearance. This deeply personal presentation sheds light on the MMIWG2S crisis and Vanessa’s journey from trauma to resilience.

My Race, My History, My Health presentation provides an hour long of truth sharing directly from Vanessa's personal family story that speaks about the history of Vanessa's grandfather who he himself was kep in a Sanitorium for over 7 years. Vanessa shares about the different impacts the medical system has had on her family directly such as sterilization of her mother and the medical racism that would kill her mother. You will also gain a perspective around triggers and working together.
This two-hour presentation explores how colonialism, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma contribute to the trafficking of Indigenous women, girls, and two spirit people. It connects the issue to the MMIWG2S crisis, child welfare, and gender-based violence, while offering culturally grounded insight into prevention, healing, and community safety.
